A Happy Hour for South Asian Engineers 👩🏽💻🥳
December is when NYC’s charm hits its peak ☃️
Even without the Saks light show this year, the city’s lights, vibes, and Christmas villages are still delivering. I hope you take a moment this season to stroll around and soak in all the festive beauty our city has to offer—it’s pure magic. ✨
Now, onto some holiday cheer of our own: Mango’s last event of 2024!
Join us next week for Desi Engineers on Tap: A Happy Hour for South Asian Engineers. Whether you’re an engineer, a former SWE, or just someone who enjoys debugging life with good company, unwind with us over a cold one and make some new connections before the holidays.
P.S. Sticking around NYC over Christmas or New Year’s and worried about boredom with friends out of town? Reply to this email or text me at +1 (484) 954-7985. I’m planning to connect folks staying in the city with similar backgrounds and goals—because why not make new friends during the holidays? 🎄

Highlighting people in our community making strides in diverse fields!

Shaan is the 23 year old co-founder and CEO of Alia. He graduated from college last year (May 2023) and decided to go full-time right out of school without having any paying clients. Alia now has over 500 paying eCommerce clients. He has created a name for himself in the eCom SaaS community as a young builder with high conviction and vision. And he absolutely crushes it on LinkedIn as well.
Why do you do what you do?
I do what I do because I want to inspire other young people to take the leap on their startup dream. I decided to take the leap right out of college and it’s been the best decision I made. I post on LinkedIn about my company to inspire other people to go full-time on their startups too!
What does your Desi identity mean to you, and how has it influenced your journey?
My Desi identity means the world to me and is a part of how I make decisions everyday. Being raised in a Sikh family, I strive to bring the teachings of Sikhism into my decisions. Selfless service to others, living honestly, and compassion are three pillars that I try to think about when making decisions.
What advice do you have for those entering your field?
Just get started. It’s easy to think that one day, in the future, everything will be perfect and you can start on that day. But, that day might never come and there might never be a perfect time to start. Right now is the time to start.
